6 months

Our sweet baby Connor is already 6 months old! Wow, time is flying by. Connor is such a good baby (not that Caleb was a bad baby, Connor is just a much more easy going baby). He is sitting up on his own, "talking", rolling all over the place, and eating some solid foods. His physical therapy is going well and he has been making progress. He absolutely adores his big brother and spends most of his time watching what Caleb is doing and trying to figure out some way to get to wherever Caleb is. We just love this little guy!

Mr. Manners

We've been working on manners with Caleb lately, and I think he's getting it. Well, kinda. He seems to think that if you say please you can do or have whatever you want. For example these are actual recent conversations:

Me - Caleb do not kick your brother in the head

Him - Please?

Me - Caleb do not put your fruit cup on your head like a hat.

Him - Please?

Me - Caleb, Hank is not a horse. We don't ride him.

Him - Please?

Me - Caleb it's not a great idea to put dog food in your oatmeal.

Him - Please?

Oh well, guess you have to start somewhere!

Just in time for Thanksgiving...

Pumpkin Patch

I have been accused by some (Dad) of not being a very good blogger lately. I guess he has a point since I haven't done any posts in 2 months and the last one was in all actuality just pictures. Fair enough...and since he took most of these pictures and Mom uploaded them to my computer I guess I don't have any real excuses left (unless you consider finding the time to sit down and write this a valid excuse...which I do).

So here it goes with the updates; Caleb is fast approaching 2 years old and is a complete handful. He is talking like crazy (and sometimes talking crazy), and picking up on new things everyday. He has totally embraced being a big brother and adores Connor. The first thing he does every morning is check in on his baby brother. We started taking a music class over the summer and have continued even though I am back at work now. Caleb loves it. However, he is a "make my own rules" kinda guy so it's not unusual for him to be dancing in the middle of the circle of kids by himself or to just sit down in the middle of class if he decides he needs a break. He has also started asking "why"?...about everything. Actual conversation from yesterday: Me:"Caleb don't throw your banana on the floor" Him: "why" Me: "because it will get dirty and your won't be able to eat it" Him: "why"? Me: 'because it will have germs on it and make you sick" Him:"why"?. Anyways you can see where this is going. We've had some very interesting conversations lately.

As for Connor, I don't think I am being dramatic when I say he is the SWEETEST baby. Ever. He rarely cries (usually only if he's hungry or tired, both of which are easy to fix), and he loves to smile and talk to anyone that will listen. He is weighing in at 20 lbs now (I have been accused of raising line backers more than once) and is 5 months old! He adores Caleb just as much as Caleb loves him. In fact, Caleb will usually get him cracking up harder than anyone else can. I can't wait to see what their relationship will be as they get older. We recently found out (at his 4 month check up) that Connor has tortocollis, this means that the muscles in his neck were damaged due to the position he was in in the womb. As a result the muscles on one side of his neck are too tight and on the other side they are too weak. Because of this he is now attending physical therapy to build those muscles as well as his upper body strength (a side effect of his neck muscles being damaged). Even though some of the stretches he now has to do are painful, he takes it like a trooper. I am not exaggerating when I say that God truly blessed us with Connor, his sweet, laid back personality makes even the hard things seem much easier.

As I mentioned earlier, I was "nudged" to post these pics from my dear father. The boys went to a pumpkin patch a few weeks ago with their Nana and Pop Pop. By the looks of it they had a great time and brought home a pumpkin, which I am told Caleb picked out special (and has proceeded to kick around the house like a ball for about a week now). Such are the joys of little boys.
Caleb loved the pumpkins...
Connor, not so much.
Always the helper, Caleb insisted on "carrying" the diaper bag

He looks unimpressed
Happy Halloween!

Brotherly Love

So I'm a little behind on the blog posts, as you can imagine 2 kids under 2 is keeping us a little busy, and well when the choice is blog or sleep...sleep is always the answer. But in reality I think things are going pretty well, we are adjusting nicely to being a family of 4. Connor is 7 weeks old and around 12.5 lbs (this means he is a BIG guy), he has 2 chins and huge cheeks which I just love. He seems to be a pretty easy going baby so far, cries when he's hungry or when his stomach hurts because he tried to eat too much too fast (a vicious cycle) but other than that he seems to roll with the punches. This is great when your older brother is a maniac of an 18 month old. Loud and rough would best describe Caleb right now. He has adjusted pretty well to sharing the limelight (the occasional minor meltdown time to time is to be expected). We just have to watch him because he loves Connor SO much. He wants to hold him, change him, hug him, kiss him, and push him in the swing. It all sounds very cute, and it is, except that Caleb has no sense of the word gentle. I am not positive but I think Connor's plan may be to get as big as possible so that he will eventually be the big brother and have the upper hand. Anyways here are a few recent pictures of our sweet brothers. I'm going to sleep!

Kisses for Connor
Helping baby brother with his tummy time
"Hey brother, let me get in there with you!"
"If I keep growing at this pace, I'll be able to defend myself in no time"
"Are you listening to me when I'm talking to you?"
